Been gone for a minute, but i'm back up in it..

I've been toying with the idea of bringing back the blog for a few reasons.
One of which is: I love the share my thoughts, and two - because my friends constantly ask me about it.

It wasn't until I started visiting Sophia's blog that I actually thought I should. She gave me an unexpected push, that I didn't even know I was looking for, or needed. (Her blog is great guys, really you should check it out) I was like yea! I wanna do this again! And then today (1/25/2012), my Communications teacher spit some motivational ish that gave that EXTRA push, so here I am, brainstorming in class, planning to re-emerge.

Give me some time to get the blog back in shape. Please. A lot has changed for me and since my blog has always been a reflection of me, I believe the blog should show that. Nothing drastic, just a lil bit of this & that.

She started to talk about losing her mother AND her mother in law in the same year to breast cancer (damn thats gotta be hard). I could feel her pain, even Mo'Nique got teary eyed, (but she's an actress so who knows with her right? lol)

"Hope She Cheats" is living the life at radio right now :) so happy, billboard charted and all, my little boo boo of a song, the little engine that almost never was :) thanx UStream Fam :) thanx Canei Finch & Clutch :) that was an interesting evening :) Look at how it all turned out now ;)
When I initially wrote the song, I heard it really mellow and jazzed out, similar to how I 1st performed it at SOB's :) and this is exactly what I did :)

After UStreamin last night, sat there at the keys and went in, didn't mean to be up till 7AM but ahh well :) for me, well worth it :)

I created this for those who don't know I write and produce :) for those who want a glimpse of who I am :)

According to a press release sent out by the cable network (which, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner), the comedian is joining TBS to host a late-night show that is expected to debut in November. O'Brien's show will be followed on TBS' schedule by George Lopez's "Lopez Tonight," which will move to midnight.

"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I'm headed to basic cable," O'Brien said in the statement. "My plan is working perfectly."

O'Brien is currently embarking on a nationwide comedy tour, but he made bigger headlines earlier this year when NBC decided to move Jay Leno back to "The Tonight Show's" late-night slot. O'Brien, who had been hosting "Tonight," left the network.

Hip-Hop superstar Jay-Z will take part in the rally, after hearing the shocking story of a seven-year-old girl, who was gang raped in an apartment in the city on March 28th. Russell Simmons is hosting the event, while the Rev. Al Sharpton and other community leaders are expected to join Jay-Z for the rally, which takes place on Saturday (April 10th) at 7:00 PM at The Lighthouse Outreach ministry. In addition to Jay-Z and Russell Simmons, rappers Ludacris, Chuck D. and Trenton's own Wise Intelligent of the Poor Righteous Teachers will deliver taped messages to attendees. The rally is a reaction to the shocking news about the seven-year-old, who was assaulted by seven men, ranging in age from 13 to 20 years-old. According to reports, the girl’s 15-year-old sister took an undisclosed amount of money and sold herself and her younger sister for sex during a party. Police have arrested five men believed to be involved with the crime and they seek two more rapists, who allegedly also forcibly penetrated the young girl.

The Jamaica Star is reporting that off again/ on again ~~more off than on~~ DJ Hallow Point crashed into a wall outside his home last week.
They are also reporting that the artist, crashed a week prior to that (smh) and his reason for this recent crash is:

"I was test riding the bike after the first accident. The gear lever did get damage and I got it fixed and was riding to test it. When mi hold it down, no gear. A straight inna a wall mi go. Mi head chop, a mi skull mi a look pon" he said.

Well...Hallow Point, i'm not one to gossip BUT heard from a good good source a while back that you love the brown bottle more than di singa SOOOOO babycakes, i'm gonna have to give you a side eye on your explanation and ask you to put down the henny ok?? Dont feel no way babes, i'm only a blogger and a stranger to you.
Also, I know tons of bikers, experienced and inexperienced and before I guessed, I asked, and all said if they were in your situation they would've hopped off the bike, so babes...why didnt you???
Glad you are you are ok now though, but please take my foolish advice ok? and come back to music...dont know why you disappeared for the umteenth time..

..well, first lemme shoutout LJ for my ticket, thanx babe, this was THE BEST b'day gift EVER!

Now..lemme start off by saying I've never been to a show at The Garden b4 so I wasnt sure what to expect. Last show I went to was at Nokia Theatre and they have no seating arrangements (we stood up for the whole show) so therefore it was 1st come, front row..ya dig?
Yea so, I went to MSG 2hrs before the show started just to be on the safe side. When I got there I realize there was no line, you walk in to the waiting area and that was it.
Waiting time was nothing, it went by sooo fast.
When I did get to my seat, I was there for an hr chilling b4 showtime. During that time I was wondering where everybody else was..I guess I'm the only one who didnt get the memo that at MSG you're guaranteed your seat.

Anyways...SHOWTIME! and ya boy Trey Songz opened up the show. His set was good, he really improved on his stage performance, I love it! (and I cant wait to see him again @ Roseland Ballroom later this month hehe)

Trey brought a chick on stage to sip champagne with him, little did she know he wanted her to SAY AHH lol, and this is when da boy Loso in case you aint know so came out..Can I tell you it was a zoo?? *Fab voice* niice!

After Fab & Trey, was intermission...

Not long after came Hovi baby!

I dont think I need to tell you that went, but in case you're a lil bit slow...IT WAS PANDEMONIUM (as expected)

After Hov took a break, Jeezy came out and did his set, Jeezy ran thru joints from TM101 and 102. I thought I knew alot of Jeezy's raps but there was a teenage blanquito beside me, can I tell you dude knew every song word for word? niiice!
Jeezy then went on to give Lil Wayne a shoutout (supposedly Wayne started his 1 yr bid today...) and so he brought out the Barbie, Miss Nicki Minaj to rep for Wayne but in no time out came Lil Wayne himself! haha..1 yr bid my ass..They performed "I'm going in" and guess who showed up?....go ahead..guesss...

yep! Drizzy!. Drizzy is a rule breaker, his ass came out in full white! haha I love it! I truly didn't expect that at all. Thought Drake was still in JA but I guess he didn't want to miss sending his mentor off..

After a few more songs, out came Akon to do that song, cant remember the name.."if you looking for me you can find me on the block disobeying the law.." yea that one.

When they exited the stage out came Hov again, he brought out Trey for "Heart of The City" and Bridgette Kelly for "Empire State of Mind"

Great show! and Hov cracking on the audience made my night.
If you're familiar with his set then you know at the end he tries his best to spot you no matter how far up you are. Well...there was someone in front row in lime green outfit, and Hov spotted them and said "shoutout to the dude wearing lime green, I wouldnt have worn that but hey, that's just me" lol..lots more jokes. If you missed it you're a lame (except LJ)

He also did a few joints from Reasonable Doubt, which homie beside me surprised me again when he was going word for word with Jay on "Can I Live"..shoutout to him. vid of that coming later too..

In case you've been under a rock, there's reports that Blak Ryno is no longer a part of Portmore Empire, and cartoonist Clovis wasted no time in putting his spin on it, as he did earlier with the Gaza Kim situation.

Also, earlier yesterday it was reported that Ryno's house was shot up but no one was hurt as Ryno nor his family was home at the time. Ms Raine, Kartel's publicist posted a statement from her client, in which he stated "anyone who does anything to Ryno has to answer to him" <--click the link to read.

As I type this to you, I am sitting in my room, rubbing my feet through the grass, watching snow fall in Atlanta, sipping on Wonda-punch made last night, and listening to an EMOTION PICTURE entitled, "The ArchAndroid." I must admit, I am feeling very wild inside, and pleasantly distracted by the music from this album.

I know that some of you may have been patiently waiting on a sign from me—hell, about anything. Especially new music. Well, to my truest supporters (both "new" and "been down") I will be releasing my album this May 18th, 2010, a follow up to "Metropolis, Suite I of IV: The Chase." :-) Yes, it is finished and yes, I am ready to give it to you.

I must admit once more, I have been very nervous/anxious, yet proud/excited to share it with you. You can imagine how overjoyed I am that you will finally hear what we’ve been working on for years. At Wondaland, we poured our hearts and minds into this until as they say in church, “all hearts and minds were clear.”

Over the course of the next few months, The Mad Minds of The Wondaland Arts Society and I will be giving you samples of positive ions from this hand-crafted Emotion Picture. This is to prepare your palette for "The ArchAndroid." This week, we have decided to start you off with "Tightrope" and "Cold War."

I hope these songs touch you like they've touched me. While listening to "Tightrope" you may want to move. You may feel compelled to dance. You may associate this song with an addictive dance and share it with your friends, family, and enemies. You may even get in touch more with your inner confidence. In fact, you MAY even want to slap somebody. Hopefully it helps you with your balance... life's balance.

While listening to "Cold War," you may feel obligated or inclined to find your purpose. So basically Dame is visiting Jamaica for the first time. Hmm...didnt he sign ( or gave him a distribution deal) Sizzla a couple yrs ago? this is really his first time in J.A? wow! talk about being interested..

The Man Behind The Music; Johnny Wonder

Whether I post music here or at HZM, I always give props to who I got the music from and every now and then someone will ask "who is Johnny Wonder?", well folks have no fear, the Jamaica Gleaner broke it down for you.

The world of dancehall is made up of countless stars but few wonders. While most like to be in the spotlight, for entrepreneur and music lover Johnny Wonder, working behind the scenes and making things happen is what he does best.

Johnny Wonder is a name known to everybody in dancehall circles, yet few outside are familiar with the name. The Sunday Gleaner recently spoke to the humble Wonder about his work for the last 25 years - bringing Jamaican music to the world. Growing up as a teenager in New York immersed in the popular culture of hip hop, Wonder never grew up imagining he would have been a frequent visitor to the Caribbean and a lover of Jamaican music.
At the age of 15, Wonder made his first contact with local music while hanging around Washington Square Park listening to the likes of Black Uhuru, Sly and Robbie, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown and others. The reggae fever soon caught the youngster who, in the '80s, opened two reggae retail stores in Manhattan and playing out on his own sound system, Street Life International, at popular reggae joints. Wonder soon linked with legendary producer, King Jammy's, who was then making a name for himself in the business.

In the mid-'80s, Wonder made his first trip to Jamaica and was hooked. Working with the likes of Risto Benji, Junior Cat, Pan Head, Bounty Killer, Wonder, alongside King Jammy's and VP Records, started distributing reggae/dancehall music to the world. Wonder found himself in the late'90s working with TVT Records, an independent US record label founded by Steve Gottlieb. In the midst of distributing music, Wonder found time to manage the early careers of Bounty Killer, Elephant Man and the Scare Dem Crew.

After a brief break from reggae in the late '90s, Wonder couldn't stay away for long.
"I came back into reggae in like 2002 and I would send out emails with records I liked," Johnny Wonder told The Sunday Gleaner. "I went back to work for VP Records and that didn't work out so what I do now is do an email blast and distribute music, working with artistes, taking them around and promoting them. I work with everybody. We push reggae music and artistes and go into the streets with dem when they are nobody, push them to mek dem become stars. Been doing that since Jammy's days."

Wonder's email blasts, which are done under his company, 21st Promotions, send local music to the globe. From local to international disc jocks, everyone seems to get their music from Johnny Wonder first. Wonder's email list has 2,600 contacts from Hawaii to Europe, the United States, Australia - anywhere there is a love for Jamaican music.
"Now the email blasts it's ridiculous, it's big. Even right now I got eight or nine things in my email I gotta download. Now I dunno what I did but everybody wants me to send out their things," he said.
While it's been years of hard work in the streets doing promotions, Wonder said he has no plans of leaving the business.
"Reggae is just something I have a passion for," he said. "Reggae and dancehall is a challenge. I like to see people come from nothing to something. I do it for the love of music and trying to help it out."

Outside of his email blasts and promotions, Wonder has also done DVDs chronicling and highlighting young talent. The first DVD, Dancehall Draft Picks Volume One, showcased then young stars Busy Signal, Aidonia, Mavado and others, which was released for VP Records. According to Wonder, the DVD did well and he is now editing volume two, which was produced by Hapilos Entertainment and will be released independently.

For the future, Wonder has big dreams for Jamaican music.

"I'm working on everybody's projects. I want to release records and compilations and albums and working on digital distribution like what we used to do," he said. "I know there is a market for it so I wanna fill that void."
One of Wonder's latest accomplishments is having been added to the Reggae Grammy Committee from where he plans to continue making a difference in reggae music.

Big up Johnny, keep doing the damn thing, without you alot of these blogs/ radio stations/ selectors wouldnt be the same, so Johnny jus kno..we appreciate you and we're also looking fwd to the next Dancehall Draft picks zeen ☺

The campaign will be comprised of innovative commercials featuring Drake as well as film director Rik Cordero and China-based singer/songwriter Jay Chou; the Sprite "Spark" Music Project, an online interactive music mixer that enables people to make their own tunes and/or remix music from Drake with music from emerging artists around the world, which is launching in March; and the Sprite "Spark" Film Project, due to launch in April, will provide people with the tools and content to edit their own 45-second animated films.

Drake is also partnering with Sprite for its "Step-Off" competition in Atlanta, which awards $1.5 million in college sponsorships. The program has been running since last fall and takes place at historically Black colleges. Drake will be a judge and will also perform at the finale.

Additionally, Drake will also judge and perform as part of the first-ever Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown being held on Feb. 12 as part of this year's NBA All-Star game. Drake will judge alongside NBA player LeBron James and former NBA player Darryl Dawkins. He will perform live after the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown.

Ok so this morning John Mayer had the internet/ blogging world in a frenzy after a few comments from his Playboy mag interview started circulating. If you missed it, lemme get you up to speed. Here's part of the interview:

PLAYBOY: If you didn’t know you, would you think you’re a douche bag?

MAYER: It depends on what I picked up. My two biggest hits are “Your Body Is a Wonderland” and “Daughters.” If you think those songs are pandering, then you’ll think I’m a douche bag. It’s like I come on very strong. I am a very…I’m just very. V-E-R-Y. And if you can’t handle very, then I’m a douche bag. But I think the world needs a little very. That’s why black people love me.

PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?
MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’”

PLAYBOY: It is true; a lot of rappers love you. You recorded with Common and Kanye West, played live with Jay-Z.

MAYER: What is being black? It’s making the most of your life, not taking a single moment for granted. Taking something that’s seen as a struggle and making it work for you, or you’ll die inside. Not to say that my struggle is like the collective struggle of black America. But maybe my struggle is similar to one black dude’s.

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?

1st off, John Mayer has a dry sense of humor and is very honest ( if you were a listener of his music, you'd know this #justsaying )
I saw that alot of folks had shit to say about this and i'm like hmmm...y'all are making it too easy! I mean just because someone doesnt like you, does not make them racist.
And let's not forget he did say he was gonna "going to start dating separately from my dick" so maybe there's hope for all you who are pissed at the moment lol.

Then you bustas have the nerve to be upset that he used the N word when y'all slay that word on a DAILY basis, are you serious? is it ok for YOU to say nigger/nigga because you're "black" really? If that's how you think then may the good lord be with you..

Anyways...here's the apology John summed up:

Re: using the 'N word' in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there's no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged. And while I'm using today for looking at myself under harsh light, I think it's time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews... It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it's gotten out of hand and I've created somewhat of a monster. I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don't have the stomach for it. Again, because I don't want anyone to think I'm equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again. I just wanted to play the guitar for people. Everything else just sort of popped up and I improvised, and kept doubling down on it...
